The lucky Grand Forks winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, showed up at lottery headquarters along with his wife early Monday morning to claim the winnings. On Sunday morning, I checked my lottery tickets while having my cup of coffee. As I read the numbers in the newspaper, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, said the winner. So, I asked my wife to check the tickets. Then I called my son to have him check the numbers on the website. Everything matched. We couldn’t believe it. The lucky couple plans to share the wealth. We will give some to our church and to a youth group. This is a divine gift and we plan to do some good with it. The $711,584 jackpot was the second largest prize received by a North Dakota Lottery player. The top winner won $1 million playing Powerball. NORTH DAKOTA LOTTERY LOOKING FOR $400,000 WINNING TICKET Lady Luck found a lucky player who has the top winning ticket in the country from the Powerball drawing on Saturday, January 26. The winning ticket, worth $400,000, was sold at Main Tesoro located at 1833 E. Main Avenue in Bismarck. The North Dakota Lotto winning ticket matched all five white balls, but not the Powerball. Because the player purchased the Power Play option for an extra dollar, the $200,000 prize was multiplied by two, making it worth $400,000.
North Dakota Lottery Director Chuck Keller says, Someone is walking around with a ticket worth almost a half million dollars and they may not even know it. Since an average of $7,554 of lottery prizes goes unclaimed and expires each week, the North Dakota Lottery wants to get the word out to make sure the winning player does not overlook this ticket. Jerry Schmidt, manager at Main Tesoro, reported that as of Monday morning, no one has brought the winning ticket into the store. The winning North Dakota Powerball Lotto numbers for the January 26 drawing were: 11, 35, 39, 53, 54 and the Powerball number was 24.
Bismarck, ND On Saturday night, December 22, Lady Luck found a player with a winning Powerball ticket worth $200,000. The ticket was sold at Highway Standard in Carrington. The winning numbers were: 5, 10, 11, 34, 38 and the Powerball number was 21. A $200,000 winning ticket matches all five numbers, but not the Powerball. The ticket was purchased without the Power Play option. The Lottery encourages players to check their tickets for winning numbers and sign their tickets to protect their prize. Lottery Director Chuck Keller said, Before you do anything else, sign the back of your ticket. Your ticket is your only claim for the prize. Winning players have 180 days from the draw date to claim their prizes. This is the second $200,000 win for North Dakota Lottery players in the past month. For the November 21 draw, a $200,000 winning Powerball ticket was sold in Fargo at Stop N Go. If Saturday’s winner had purchased the Power Play option, the $200,000 prize would have been multiplied by 4, making the prize worth $800,000. Starting January 3, players can triple their Hot Lotto non-jackpot prizes by adding the Triple Sizzler option for an extra dollar per play. If a player selects the Triple Sizzler option and wins $10,000, the prize is automatically multiplied by three times for a total of $30,000 ($10,000 x 3).
The Triple Sizzler Feature is similar to the Power Play option already offered on the Powerball game, said lottery director Chuck Keller. However, with Hot Lotto the multiplier is a constant three. The Triple Sizzler Feature will be available as a permanent feature to the Hot Lotto game. With Hot Lotto, jackpots start at $1 million and continue to grow until a player wins. It is the game with the best odds for winning a million. Each play costs $1. If a player adds the Triple Sizzler option, each play will cost $2. Drawings are held twice each week on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Overall odds of winning any prize remain the same: 1:16.
