Waseca Man Wins $180.1 Million Powerball Jackpot, Largest Lottery Prize Ever Won in Minnesota!
A Waseca man won the $180.1 million Powerball jackpot from Saturday’s drawing the largest Powerball jackpot ever won in Minnesota. It’s just really amazing, said Paul and Sue Rosenau as they arrived at the Lottery’s headquarters.
The couple discovered their win May 4, the night after the drawing, while watching the 10 p.m. news. We were in our jammies and ready to go to bed, Paul recalled. But after realizing that the numbers on their single line quick-pick ticket matched the winning Powerball numbers on the screen, their plans quickly changed. The couple went to Sue’s place of employment to use the computer to double check their ticket. The numbers on the ticket matched all winning numbers.
Still in disbelief, Paul had to double check the winning numbers again in the newspaper the next morning. He was thinking that the numbers were going to change overnight, joked Sue. I was checking the paper for an hour, Paul added. I was soaking wet just from the nerves.
It’s something you just never think will happen, Sue continued. The Rosenaus have elected to take the $88 million cash option ($59.6 million after tax withholding). Paul is employed as a heavy equipment operator for BCM Grading and Excavating Company in Faribault, a subsidiary of Met-Con Companies. Sue works as a project and communications assistant. winning ticket was sold at Hy-Vee Gas, located at 1930 Grant St. in Faribault,MN.. Hy-Vee Incorporated will receive a $50,000 bonus.

Lakeville Resident One Number Away From Retirement Wins $200,000 Minnesota Powerball Prize John Koch of Lakeville called the Minnesota Lottery’s winning numbers line on Sunday (March 23) and listened to the winning Minnesota MN Powerball numbers for the night before, comparing them to the numbers on his three-line quick-pick ticket. The Powerball number on the first two lines matched the one drawn. The third line matched the first five numbers drawn to win $200,000.

02/27/08 Terry Dvorsky of Minneapolis claimed a $100,000 Lottery prize that he won by playing the Cash Explosion scratch game. Dvorsky purchased the winning lotto ticket at Cub Foods, 701 W. Broadway Ave. in Minneapolis, on Feb. 25. When Dvorsky got home from the store and played the game, he initially thought he won $100, but as he continued to scratch the ticket, he revealed three more zeros to win $100,000! Holy mackerel, Dvorsky thought. I can’t believe it! Dvorsky is no stranger to lottery luck he also won a $25,000 scratch game prize in 2000. JANUARY 25, 2008 Yesterday, Bruce Chapin of Willmar claimed a $390,772 Gopher 5 jackpot at the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville. The first line on his five-line quick-pick ticket matched all five numbers drawn on Jan. 22 to win the jackpot (2-8-10-28-39).
Deby’s, located at 2324 East Highway 12 in Willmar, sold the winning ticket. Gopher 5 is Minnesota’s own cash lotto for which players pick five numbers from 1 to 47 for a chance to win a jackpot of at least $100,000. The odds of matching all five numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 1,533,939. The approximate overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 12.
Second Hibbing Jackpot Winner This Month! DECEMBER 28, 2007 For the second time this month, a resident of Hibbing has won a Northstar Cash jackpot. Myranda Shaw claimed a $193,473 jackpot at the Lottery’s Roseville office this morning. This is the third largest Northstar Cash jackpot ever won.
When Myranda Shaw of Hibbing compared the winning Northstar Cash numbers for the Dec. 27 drawing to the numbers on her ticket, she initially thought that four of the five numbers matched to win $50. “I would have been content to win $50, she said. “I was just happy to win. A moment later, she realized that all five matched to win the jackpot. “I proceeded to scream and shake. I ran to the stairs to scream for my husband, she said. She told him the good news by yelling, “We won the Lottery! We won the Lottery! The first line on Shaw’s 10-line quick-pick ticket matched all five numbers drawn (9-11-13-19-24) to win the jackpot. The winning ticket was sold by Holiday, 2517 – 13th Ave. E. in Hibbing. Tracy Paolo of Hibbing won a Northstar Cash jackpot worth $84,233 on Dec. 9, 2007. She claimed the prize on Dec. 13. Paolo’s winning ticket was sold by Schanche’s Side Lake Store, located at 7505 Highway 5 in Side Lake.
A Northstar Cash jackpot ticket worth $25,000 from the drawing on July 25, 2007 (sold in Ramsey County) has not yet been claimed. Players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim all prizes. To play Northstar Cash, players select five numbers from 1 to 31. Matching the five numbers drawn wins the jackpot, which starts at $25,000 and grows until it is won. Players also win by matching 2, 3 or 4 of the numbers drawn.
