Baltimore,MD. Mothers are full of good advice. Just ask Shamira Cross. She and her mother, Mabel, were at the store when her mom encouraged her to buy Jewels of the Nile scratch-off tickets. But, before they could make their purchase, a woman bought the last two Jewels of the Nile tickets from the Maryland Lottery ticket counter.

Shamira then suggested purchasing them from the Instant Ticket Vending Machine (ITVM). Each of them bought a Jewels of the Nile ticket and Shamira is now $100,000 richer. When the recently employed maintenance worker saw the $10,000 prize on the scratch-off ticket she and her mother immediately left the store. Her mother finished scratching the ticket when they arrived at her house and informed Shamira she had actually won $100,000.
